As part of his Breast Cancer Health Awareness Campaign, KJF teamed up with teammate, Johnathan Joseph, to host ‘Tailgating for a Cure’ each year in October to raise funds for breast cancer research and treatment at the Houston Texans Grille. The funds will be donated to the Sister’s Network, Inc. and used to support program that support early breast cancer detection. This is a fun event where women can be informed about risk factors for developing breast cancer and recommended procedures to preserve breast health through regular breast self-exam (BSE), annual breast exam by a healthcare provider and regular mammograms according to recommended screening guidelines. The evening will feature Chef ‘Game Day’ Recipe Competition, a Touchdown Dance Contest, Raffles, as well as the opportunity to mingle with some of their fellow teammates as we watch the Monday Night Football Game.  You can expect a very memorable and exciting evening as we raise money to serve the Houston community. Funds from the event  will assist their foundations in making a positive impact by supporting programs that promote preventative lung diseases as well as early breast cancer detection.  This event is personal to both players, as Johnathan’s father is currently battling lung cancer and emphysema, and Kareem’s mother is a breast cancer survivor.  They are raising funds in hopes that one day no family will have to endure seeing a family member suffer from these diseases.
